Proposal to change the school day.

Proposal to change the timing of sessions within the school day.

The governing body of Ysgol Clywedog is proposing to make changes in the times of the school sessions. This will only affect lessons and breaks during the school day, not the start and end of the school day.

8:50 – 9:05 Registration / Assembly
9:05 – 10:05 Lesson 1
10:05 – 11:05 Lesson 2
11:05 – 11:25 Break (20 mins)
11:25 – 12:25 Lesson 3
12:25 – 1:00 Lunch (35 minutes)
1:00 – 2:00 Lesson 4 (including registration)
2:00 – 3:00 Lesson 5
3:00 End of school day

It is proposed that this will take effect from 1st September 2017 and will also include a 2 week timetable. Moving to this new 2 week timetable with 5 lessons each day will reduce the number of changes during the day, and allow for an improved quality of learning time.

There will be a meeting held for all parents of students registered at Ysgol Clywedog on Tuesday 9th May 2017 at 4pm in the main hall. If you are unable to attend the meeting please submit written comments on the proposed change to me via the school reception, before the 9th May 2017.

This document is available on the school website and at the school reception in Welsh, Polish and Portuguese from 25th April 2017.

After the meeting the school will consider any written comments submitted, and any comments made at the meeting on the proposal, before determining whether any change in those times should be made and whether the proposal should be implemented with or without any modification.

Final notification of any changes to the school day will be communicated on w/c 22nd May 2017.
