Pupil Deprivation Grant

Ysgol Clywedog is in receipt of the above grant to the total value of £179,010 and has/is planning on spending in the following manner, as agreed by the Welsh Assembly:-
• Additional resources to support the learning for KS4 students in order to reduce the L2+ gaps;

• Additional monies for department bids to purchase necessary equipment to raise aspirations and outcomes for pupils;

• Employment of Achievement Mentor to work closely with targeted groups on attendance, punctuality and revision skills. To have an impact on pupil learning and attendance;

• Year 6/7 team building weekend at Abernant, available for all but FSM pupils to be paid for;

• SAM Learning – On-line support for pupils in all subjects. Can be accessed in and out of school. To improve pupil homework;

• Motivational speakers to talk to pupils during whole-school PSE days;

• Additional rewards linked to attendance for FSM pupils;

• Supply costs to cover KS4 Keyskills week and Ifs week to free staff to work with pupils in small groups to improve their results;

• Additional ICT base for intervention work to improve L2+ scores;

• Easter classes and revision weekend to assist with thorough preparation for examinations;

• Pupils being entered for additional qualifications in line with modernised curriculum;

• Additional teacher of English to work on literacy skills and to ensure the standard of English within school is improved. Also working on small group support;

• Army course for FSM KS4 students to narrow the FSM gap and maintain lower exclusions, including supply costs for teacher to accompany;

• Forest Schools training for KS3 FSM pupils to maintain lower exclusions, including supply costs for teacher to accompany;

• Running costs for minibus for army course, revision weekend, Forest schools etc;

• In-school training for teaching staff linked to the use of data and FSM in order to have a higher percentage of good lessons in all areas;

• Keep Kids Safe – texting/communication service for effective home-school communications;

• Pre-examination breakfasts for Year 11 pupils.
