Team ready for rocket launch.

Category : Events

A team of students from Ysgol Clywedog have qualified for the UK Rocketry Challenge 2018 finals in York. One of 4 teams from Wales, they have designed and built a rocket to safely deliver a payload of 2 raw eggs, 243 meters up for at least 42 seconds… and return the eggs in tact.

The CAD (computer aided design) built rocket is powered by gunpowder and the team of year 7 to year 11 must complete the challenge unaided.

Thanks goes to Ian Lucas MP and the teams local sponsors; Magellan, Aircovers and Solvay for their support for the project.

Good luck to the team in York.

Outstanding effort from our Year 7 students at the Wales Climate and Nature Youth Festival. There will be more opportunities for the school to get involved with from September.
