Ysgol Clywedog through to the final Mock COP (Conference of Parties on Climate)

Category : Events

Students from Ysgol Clywedog have successfully passed the regional debates of the Mock COP (Conference of Parties on Climate) to reach the final stage at the Senedd in Cardiff.

Run jointly by Size of Wales and Welsh Centre for International Affairs (WCIA), and sponsored by Scottish Power, the aim of the conference is for delegates to agree an international resolution on the issue of climate change, similar to the UN CIimate Change COP talks, whilst playing the part of their country as authentically as possible. Through this conference students are encouraged to be more engaged with the climate crisis and political issues and consider the responsibility of Wales, both locally and globally.

The two day event will take place in November, and prior to this the students will be training hard to ensure success. The students involved are also actively involved in eco-action around the school as part of the Eco-Action Taskforce that meets each Friday lunchtime.

Outstanding effort from our Year 7 students at the Wales Climate and Nature Youth Festival. There will be more opportunities for the school to get involved with from September.
