At Ysgol Clywedog we recognise that transition can be a stressful time for primary students, so we offer a specialised programme to help Year 6 students settle in.
Incorporating the following:
- Specialised year 7 transition team
- All information from primary schools is shared with the relevant staff in Ysgol Clywedog so each pupil is supported
- Assemblies delivered to year 6 by Assistant Headteacher
- Taster lessons delivered by Clywedog Staff to year 5 and 6 from feeder/non feeder schools
- Sporting activities throughout the year with feeder schools delivered by the 5X60 Officer
- 3 day transition programme
- Extra transition days for ALP students
- Buddy system to support all students
- Small group booster sessions delivered by Youth Workers for specific students
- Annual school musical productions visited by year 5 and 6 pupils
- Year 7 outward bound residential trip to PGL, to further develop social skills, in February
Parents’ Evenings
- Year 6 informal coffee evening in April
- Year 6 parents’ evening in July
- Year 7 settling-in evening in October
- Year 7 parents’ evening in February
