Anyone with Covid Symptoms should book a PCR test

Category : Events

If anyone, including children, has Covid symptoms they should book a PCR test and they and members of their household should self-isolate until the test result comes through.

You should not use a lateral flow test if you are experiencing Covid symptoms.

If the PCR test comes back negative, there is no need to continue to self-isolate.

If it comes back positive, you will need to continue to self-isolate. You can find out here how long for: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolation-and-treatment/how-long-to-self-isolate/

What’s the difference between a PCR Test and a LFD test?

  • PCR test are for those who have Covid symptoms. You can book a PCR test either online or by telephone. (https://gov.wales/getting-tested-coronavirus-covid-19)
  • LFD tests are for those who do not have Covid symptoms. It’s a test that looks for presence of Covid-19. It is a rapid test and designed to be used by individuals with no symptoms. The tests are quick and easy to do.

It is very important that you take the correct test especially if Covid symptoms are present.

Here are some questions and answers that you might find useful if you have any questions about which test you or your family should be using.

Erddig Estate and Minera Lead Mines Walks

Category : Events

Walk Letter – June 2021

Dear Parent/ Guardian

As part of activities week, we are organising walks for all Ysgol Clywedog students, to take place on Friday 2nd July, during the school day.

There are two walks to choose from.  Both will start at school, with the first being a more challenging route passing through Nant Mill, Minera Lead Mines and Minera Quarry Nature Reserve, returning in a loop back down the Clywedog trail in time for the school buses.

The alternative is a more leisurely walk heading towards and around the Erddig estate.  This will also return to school in time for the buses.  Your child will be asked to choose a route in advance in order for appropriate staffing levels to be agreed.

Students will be supervised by the school staff and the walk will be conducted at a leisurely pace, to take in places of interest along the way. Students will be in their year group bubbles for each walk and toilets will be available.

The school mini-bus will be available for emergencies. Students will need a packed lunch and drinks for the day. All those students on free school meals will be provided with a packed lunch.

Please ensure that your child has suitable walk wear, including footwear. Your child does not need to wear school uniform, however clothing does need to be appropriate. Your child might also need sun protection and a hat. In the event of extreme weather on the day, the walk may be postponed.

It is important that you ensure the school is aware of any updated medical information regarding your child prior to Wednesday 30 June 2021.

Yours faithfully

Gareth Edwards                                                    Helen Hughes
